Dearly Beloved in Christ/ My dear St. Thomasians….
Greetings to you all in the precious name of our Lord
and Saviour Jesus Christ.
With a heart full of gratitude to God, I write to you as
I prepare to assume charge, along with my family, at St. Thomas Mar
Thoma Church, New York. I consider this not merely a transfer, but a
sacred calling entrusted by the Lord, who in His wisdom appoints His
servants for the building up of His Church (Ephesians 4:1113).
At the outset, I give thanks to God for the blessed and faithful ministry
of Rev. John Philip Achen and Ansa Kochamma. Through their dedi-
cated service over the past years, the parish has been strengthened both
spiritually and in its common life. We praise God for their commit-
ment, shepherding, and the fruits borne through their ministry.
As we come to this beloved parish, we do so with great hope, yet with
humility and reverence. Christian ministry is not about authority, but
about servanthood—following the model of our Lord who came not to
be served, but to serve(Mark 10:45). Therefore, I come not as one
above, but as a fellow pilgrim in faith, called to walk together with you
in the journey of discipleship.
The Church, as the Body of Christ, is a living and growing organism.
Our calling is to remain rooted in Christ (John 15:5), so that we may
bear fruit in every aspect of life—worship, fellowship, witness, and
service. In a world that is rapidly changing, the mission of the Church
remains constant: to proclaim the Gospel, nurture believers, and extend
Christs love to all.
It is my earnest prayer that together we may:
* Deepen our spiritual life through meaningful worship and sacramen-
tal life
* Strengthen our fellowship as one family in Christ
* Engage actively in mission and outreach, being a light in the commu-
nity
* Nurture the younger generation in faith and commitment
Ministry is always a shared calling. I humbly request your prayers, sup-
port, and cooperation as we begin this new

chapter together. Let us seek Gods guid-
ance in all that we do, so that our parish may
continue to grow as a vibrant witness to His Kingdom.
May the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, the love of God, and the fel-
lowship of the Holy Spirit be with us all as we journey forward in faith.
With prayers and love,
Rev. Jubin Varghese (Achen)
Vicar

Dear St. Thomas family,
Greetings to each of you in the name of our Lord and Saviour Jesus
Christ.
It is with immense joy that I write to you, addressing you all even be-
fore we reach there. The United States of America, a place home to you
all and million others, a land that continues to be one of the most
sought after places with regard to higher education, good income and
top quality of life, as well as a country not easily accessible to all aspir-
ants......amidst all this, here we come.
God chose us, blessed us with this opportunity to learn, travel, eat and
live in the American soil with the Thomasians of Yonkers and I am
grateful to God for this. I truly believe that every place is a new chap-
ter, every experience is a new lesson, every person is a new story and
every culture is a new rhythm of life and I am looking forward to mak-
ing the best of all this.
Dear parishioners, as we prepare to take up the new mission entrusted
to us, I request your sincere prayers and support for Achen, our kids
Ronel and Rebecca and myself. Let us grow together in faith and spirit-
uality. May the Lord enable us to be instruments in the making of His
Kingdom. May the Holy Spirit keep each of us safe and sound.
Looking forward to meeting each of you in person.
Thank you
Tessy Kochamma

Youth Chaplains Corner
Dearly Beloved in Christ,
Glory be to the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit,
one true God. Amen.
Dearly beloved in Christ, read with me the following
verse:
"And they worshipped him, and returned to Jerusa-
lem with great joy."
Luke 24:52 (NRSV)
These words come at a striking moment in the Gos-
pel. Jesus has just ascended, and the disciples are left gazing into an empty
sky. The One they had followed, learned from, and relied upon is no longer
physically before them. By all appearances, this should have been a moment
marked by uncertainty, even loss.
And yet, Scripture tells us something unexpected. They return to Jerusalem
with great joy.
This is not the joy of having everything resolved or clearly understood. It is
the joy that comes from trust, from confidence in what Jesus has promised,
even when the path ahead is not yet visible.
That tension is one many of us know well. This season of the year often brings
transition. Some are finishing studies, others are stepping into new beginnings,
and many are simply waiting without clear direction. Even expected change
can feel unsettling. The ground shifts, and with it comes uncertainty about
what lies ahead.
Yet moments like these are not without purpose. Scripture and history both
remind us that what appears uncertain to us is often the very place where God
is at work. On May 5th, 1862, a small and under-resourced Mexican army
faced overwhelming odds at Puebla. By every expectation, defeat seemed cer-
tain, and yet they held their ground and prevailed. What seemed impossible
became a moment of unexpected victory.
The disciples stood in a similar place. With Jesus no longer physically present,
it looked like the end. But He had already given them a promise: "You will
receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you" (Acts 1:8). What
seemed like an ending was, in truth, a beginning. God often works this way. In
seasons where the future feels unclear, He is already at work beyond what we
can see.
Because of this, the question is not simply what lies ahead, but how we re-
spond in the present. When life feels uncertain, our instinct is to do more and
to hold tighter. Yet faith calls us into a different posture. Rest is not weakness;
it is trust. Paul reminds us in Ephesians that Christ is raised and reigning above
all things. The ascended Jesus is not distant. He is present and at work, even
now. Because of this, we are not carrying the future on our own.
The disciples understood this in a profound way. They did not respond to the
Ascension with panic. They returned in worship. They waited together. Their
stillness was not passivity, but confidence in the promise they had received.
Continued on page 7 …...
7
So as we navigate seasons of change, we are
invited to reflect more deeply: How are we holding what is uncertain?
Where are we gripping tightly when we are being called to trust?
We may not have clear answers, but we are not without God's presence.
The same power that raised Christ from the dead is at work even now.
And so, we return to what grounds us. We return to prayer, to worship,
and to one another. In doing so, we discover that even when the ground
shifts, God remains steady, and by His grace, we are able to move for-
ward with quiet joy.
With Prayers
J Varghese Achen
